Mastercraft Boats

MasterCraft was founded in 1968 when it built its first ski boat in a two-stall horse barn on a farm in Maryville, Tennessee. Dissatisfied with the large wakes and pull of other ski boats, MasterCraft builders designed a hull that had the smallest wake in the industry; smooth and low at slalom and jump speeds; well defined at trick speeds.

In its first year of operation, MasterCraft only built 12 boats. But the boat design was so revolutionary that the company began getting order after order for its boats and MasterCraft soon became recognized as a force in the tournament ski boat market. Thirty-eight years later, MasterCraft is producing over 3000 boats per year.

The X-Star is as much a study in modern design as it is in the development of modern wakeboarding itself. When we posed this question to our elite wakeboard team years ago, they didn’t have an answer.

“What can be done behind a boat?” We asked. “We don’t know, a boat that exceeds our limits doesn’t exist”, they told us.

Ever since that group of pros helped us conceive the modern X-Star, our team (and the thousands of aspiring pros like them) has been pushing themselves, and their sport, forward. Each year, thousands of new tricks are landed by new riders who have answered the calling of the X-Star. Exquisitely sculpted and continually refined, the X-Star is defined not by what the boat is, but what it does. The fastest-selling wakeboard boat of all time, it is a study in contrasts; its hard-edged, American industrial chic exterior cleaves a path of thick, smooth-tipped wakes. This powerful combination has led the X-Star to three straight Rider’s Choice awards and the praise of riders the globe over.

Ten years after its birth, the X-Star is still doing the impossible – pushing the best in the world to their limits and beyond. Just imagine what it will do for you.

One glance at the sleek, tapered nose of a ProStar 190 and you know this is a MasterCraft meant for business. The flagship of the ProStar brand is a boat bred solely for competition, with a spirit mired in single-ski sets. Upholding a 39-year tradition, the 190’s focus is towing skiers to their best, whether that’s on the world stage or a backyard pond. This is the boat that owns the current world record in slalom, along with a host of international and personal marks. That hasn’t happened by accident: The 190 sports a hull crafted with limited intentions, one prompting WaterSki Magazine to claim, “If you’re serious about your skiing and you’ve never taken a set behind a world record-producing machine, one wake crossing will have you sold and wondering why you waited so long.”

While slalom is its penchant, it doesn’t discriminate against disciplines, towing jumpers and trickers to bests, too. Team skier Freddy Krueger has leaped 235 feet+ behind a 190, and the current tricks record is held by Mandy Nightengale on the same set of wakes.

If you’re looking for a boat to take all of your friends tubing, look elsewhere. If you’re looking to get better, look here. The ProStar 190 is closed for business.

Ever slipped behind the wheel of a high-performance car and zipped through the gears on your way to triple digits? Taken the inside corner of a lonely mountain two-lane in the cool breeze of a weekend morning? Had your back pushed up against the seat as you let the car – and the drive – take you away?

Add water and that’s the feeling you get when you grip the wheel and throttle of the MariStar 200. This 20-foot dynamo delivers on all senses, shooting excitement through each artery as it vaults out of the hole, dives into hairpin turns with impeccable smartness and settles into a perfect speed with skiers in tow.

Packing 310 horses of standard, multi-port fuel injected power onto its compact VectorDrive frame, the 200 is a joy to drive, a dream to ski and a pleasure to own. There are few sub- 21-footers that can lay claim such a vast array of sizeable numbers, such as a 96-inch beam, seating for 11, and storage totaling 90 cubic feet; even fewer with amenities like full wrapraround seating, a big, padded sundeck, smooth ski wakes and a SuperFly bow built for three – knowing full well that anywhere but behind the windshield is the last place you want to be.
